Why Memorize Scripture?

  • Helps fight temptation
  • Keeps your mind where it should be
  • Helps to share with others
  • Helps to better understand God's concepts

How to Memorize?

  • When starting on a verse, say each word and focus on why it is in the verse
  • Memorize phrases, then put them together
  • Try to always memorize in one translation (like NKJV)
  • Always say the verse reference before and after the text of the verse - it helps you remember where it is located
  • Always memorize the wording exactly, otherwise you will forget it
  • Review the verse!

God's Request to Us

  • Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
  • Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11)
